New York - Discount Vacations, Vacation Packages, Hotels, Resorts and Travel Guide
From the dizzying heights of the New York City skyscrapers to the equally dizzying heights of the Adirondack Mountains upstate, New York is a cornucopia of wonder and excitement.
If like Frank Sinatra you want to wake up in a city that never sleeps, New York City is the place for you. From the torch of the Statue of Liberty to the subway system beneath the city, there is so much to do in NYC. Take in a show on Broadway, shop on Fifth Avenue, tour the Empire State Building, take in a game in the "House that Ruth Built" - Yankee Stadium, or whatever it is you are looking to do, you will find it in New York City. Take a bite of the Big Apple!
To the west of the metropolis of New York City, you will find several major attractions. The rush of the waters at Niagara Falls or the roaring race cars on Watkins Glen International Speedway, just outside of Corning, are two of the main reasons people make their way to the Empire State. Not too far from the Falls you will find another of the states most popular cities, Buffalo. More than just the birthplace of the chicken wing, Buffalo is a center of culture, industry and nature.
If the big city is a little bit too much for you, that doesn't mean New York isn't your perfect destination. In places like Syracuse, Albany and Rochester, urban living brings a level of sophistication, culture and industry to the otherwise agrarian landscape. In those large cities you will find fine dining, museums, galleries, concert and show venues, shopping, and more.
Mountains, valleys, lakes, and rivers cover the landscape in upstate, dotted by farms, forest/rural area, and even a few vineyards. Nature sports such as hiking, fishing, camping, rafting, and mountain climbing are encouraged in the upstate, as are skiing, snowmobile riding, snowshoeing, and ice fishing in the winter time. In the gorgeous nature of upstate New York you can also find the Winter Olympic Village in Lake Placid. Here you can participate in just about every winter sport imaginable, including taking off on of one only three bobsled runs in the Americas. The Adirondacks on a map are not too far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, but when you are there you will feel a world away.
New York's history and culture have been shaped by the various peoples that have migrated and lived in the state since before its founding. These cultures' attributes and additions have made New York a state rich in history and a favorite destination. With such a variation between the simple life of camping in the mountains and fishing in the lakes to the action of Wall Street and the big city, New York is the perfect destination for just about everyone.
Visit this amazing state and let it leave its impression on you.
